Samsung Galaxy S10E official renders appear - German website WinFuture Report

German website WinFuture has shared a new render of the cheapest variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and is calling it Samsung Galaxy S10E. Samsung Galaxy S10E is considerably a cheaper model as compared to its siblings. That’s why it has thicker bezels and just two cameras on the back. We can clearly see the Galaxy S10 E's two cameras on the back, instead of the trio on the other two S10 phones. And there's just one on the front similar to the non-Plus S10. The renders show the device from all angles, revealing its Infinity-O Display panel up front that is almost all-screen, Moreover, the previous renders reveal the three different screen sizes of the Galaxy S10 series. According to the renderers, the smallest and most affordable S10 Lite will come with a 5.8-inch display, which will be a punch hole for the camera in between. On the other hand, the regular S10 will sport a 6.1-inch screen with the same front-facing camera design. The Bixby and Volume buttons are placed on the left edge, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner is seen on the right edge of the phone.

According to the latest report, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will come in red, black, yellow, blue, white and green. In addition, the red and yellow colors will be specific only to the Galaxy S10 Lite. It has also been said in the report that this variant will sport a headphone jack, and will only come in a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option. The Samsung Galaxy S10 cheapest variant will also reportedly feature a 3,100mAh battery, The biggest Galaxy S10 Plus version will have a massive 6.4-inch display and two holes for a dual-camera setup.

First, the phone has been called the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite and just Samsung Galaxy S10. Its final name and all other details are expected to be unveiled on February 20 at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco.

Apple Says Its Update for Group FaceTime Bug Is Getting Bumped to Next Week

Apple has closed the Group FaceTime security bug that put users at risk of eavesdropping. After a massive FaceTime bug that allowed users to potentially listen in on others, Apple disabled Group FaceTime in a short-term fix to the problem. An update to address the problem was expected this week, The company said in a statement Friday that it has fixed the vulnerability on its servers and that it will issue a software update to re-enable Group FaceTime next week.

"We take the security of our products extremely seriously and we are committed to continuing to earn the trust Apple customers place in us," the company said.
The bug could work on users whose devices supported Group FaceTime, which included those running iOS 12.1 and macOS Mojave 10.14.1 or later. Apple is already facing multiple lawsuits over the incident.

Bug means

The bug had meant that any Apple device -- including iPhones, iPads and Macs -- could inadvertently or intentionally be turned into a listening device. It was all in how you entered the number of someone you were looping into the video chat. Group FaceTime, which arrived with iOS 12.1 at the end of October, allows up to 32 people to be on the same call.

Apple Says

We want to assure our customers that as soon as our engineering team became aware of the necessary details to reproduce the bug, they quickly disabled the group's face time and started working on fixes. We are committed to improving the reports through which we receive and forward these reports so that they can be delivered to the right people as quickly as possible. We take the security of our products very seriously and we are committed to maintaining trust in Apple customers who are in us.

We have fixed the Group FaceTime security bug on Apple's servers and we will issue a software update to re-enable the feature for users next week. Apple fixes its FaceTime bug. You'll get a software update soon

In its statement, Apple thanked the Thompson family for reporting the bug. Michele Thompson's teenaged son had discovered the vulnerability while playing Fortnite, CNET reported, and she spent a week trying, through a variety of means, to get the company to pay attention.
Grant Thompson told MarketWatch that it was more than a week before they were able to connect with Apple, adding that his mother “contacted them almost every single day through email, calling, faxing.” Michele Thompson, a lawyer, told the site that there should be better systems in place for “for the average citizen to report things like this.”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Following news of the eavesdropping bug this week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a consumer alert about the bug, which he described as “an egregious breach of privacy that puts New Yorkers at risk.” Cuomo and Attorney General Letitia James later announced that New York state would be opening an investigation into the incident.

The bug was another black eye for a company that prides itself on its efforts to protect its users' information. CEO Tim Cook has advocated for more privacy regulation and taken subtle shots at companies that use our data to create personalized ads.
The bug allowed FaceTime users to call another device and hear audio on the other end before the recipient answered the call. That is, it turned the device into a hot mic without the user's knowledge.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Xiaomi has a new challenger in town

Samsung Galaxy M10 has finally been launched with its price in India being under the Rs. 10,000-mark. The Samsung Galaxy M10 challenges Xiaomi's dominance with its Infinity-V display, dual rear cameras & more.

For Samsung, the Galaxy M-series has been about going back to drawing board and come with a product that can challenge the dominance of products like Xiaomi Redmi 6, Realme U1, and more.
At this price point, the smartphone comes with Infinity-V display and camera configuration with dual rear camera. But would it be enough to make a lasting impression for the customers

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Samsung takes it up a notch with its new budget phone

Samsung just brought fresh competition in the budget smartphone segment with its Galaxy M series starting at Rs 7,990. Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones are the first phones in the series with Galaxy M30 expected to launch in February.
Now, with the Samsung Galaxy M10, the South Korean company is bringing its new Infinity V display featuring a waterdrop notch design, reliable hardware under the hood and most importantly an affordable price tag. But is it too little and too late for Samsung? We try to find out that answer.
The most striking thing in the Galaxy M series for Samsung will be its design. Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 both look identical with the waterdrop notch which Samsung calls “Infinity V” display. The smartphone has a slim build with curved edges like the mid-range Galaxy A series. Galaxy M10 has a big 6.22-inch screen but the smartphone has a compact form factor thanks to its edge-to-edge display.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Features, Price, Specifications, Camera, Display Design

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Price

The Samsung Galaxy M10 price in India starts from Rs. 7,990 for the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage option while the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage option is priced at Rs. 8,990. The smartphone is available in Ocean Blue and Charcoal Black colours options while its first sale will start from February 5, 2019 via Amazon India and Samsung's online store.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Display and design

This is the first time when we have seen the new Infinity V display notch design on a Samsung smartphone.
Starting with the design, the Samsung Galaxy M10 has a polycarbonate plastic body that has a premium look with plain glass finish. Front is Waterdrop Knopch, which gives a very spectacular look in this price range. The notch houses front-facing camera and just above it is the earpiece. The chin area is kept ideal due to on-screen navigation controls.

The fact that it is the trendy waterdrop display design that makes the Samsung Galaxy M10 even more irresistible. The moment you pick up the device, the first thing you will notice is its lightweight. This is due to the plastic build of the Samsung Galaxy M10 which is a hit or miss concept since we have gotten accustomed to metallic panels in this price segment. The device does feel sturdy, but you won’t even think of testing it with a drop, all because of its light-weight design and the fear of giving it a dent.

There are dual cameras with LED flash in the rear of the device. Just beneath it, one will find the Samsung branding. The top of the front features waterdrop notch featuring the front camera. At the bottom, we have a micro USB port, a secondary microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack to cancel the noise. Behind the phone is the speaker grill. On the right side, we have the power of / off button and volume control while on the left there is a 3-slot SIM tray, which allows you to use two sim at the same time as well as a micro-SD card.

There is the 6.2-inch HD+ Infinity-V display with the waterdrop notch housing the front camera, which seems refreshing and the curved design makes it the perfect panel for watching videos. However, the bottom chin in substantially thick but it is acceptable considering the price tag of the Samsung Galaxy M10. In our first impressions, we would like to say that the display panel offers a wide real-estate for multimedia consumption while the brightness levels and viewing angles also seemed to be above average. That said, we will be testing the display in different scenarios for our detailed Samsung Galaxy M10 review.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Camera

For optics, Samsung Galaxy M10 features a dual-camera setup at the back, which comes with a combination of a 13-megapixel main module (f/1.9, 1.12µm) and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.  In addition to this, it houses a 5MP selfie camera in its notch. There is a lot that you can do with the device’s cameras. To begin with, it is extremely simple to switch between the primary and the ultra-wide angle lens, which is something that we have seen in other Samsung smartphones but we still like it.
During our brief testing period, we found out that the device taking decent photos in proper lighting conditions but we are still to test the camera capabilities in different lighting conditions. Self-test cameras also did a good job in our testing times. We will use Samsung Galaxy M10 well in the next few days and will give you the camera quality information in a detailed full review. Tune in with us for a detailed review later.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: Hardware, software, and battery

The Galaxy M10 is powered by Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.59 GHz coupled with ARM Mali T830 GPU. It further includes 2GB / 3GB RAM with 16GB / 32GB storage versions which support expandable storage via a dedicated microSD card slot. While the Samsung Galaxy M10 runs Android 8.1.0 Oreo with Samsung’s skin on top, it also supports dual SIM connectivity.

On the software front, the Galaxy M10 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, which is based on the company’s Experience 9.5 UI running on top of it. All the ordinary apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Chrome, Gmail, YouTube were opened quite easily, there was no sign of stoutors in the device. There is a lot in the user interface, and we will discuss it in a detailed review.

The battery seemed enough for a full day of moderate usage, but we are yet to test the Samsung Galaxy M10 with heavy-graphics games and online video streaming. However, we do expect the 3400mAh battery to last more than our expectations even though the Infinity-V display might be eating a lot of juice in regards to the battery’s screen time.

Samsung Galaxy M10 First Impressions: What you get inside the box

5.0 V charging adapter, Micro-USB 2.0 data/charging cable, Samsung Galaxy M10 unit, SIM ejector tool, Aa user manual.

The Samsung Galaxy M10 has launched alongside the Galaxy M20 and while the later will compete in the sub-Rs. 15,000 price segment, the Samsung Galaxy M10 will take on the likes of Realme C1, Asus Zenfone Max M2, Honor 9N, and the Xiaomi Redmi 6. Most of these smartphones come with some standard features such as dual rear cameras, a mid-range processor, and solid battery backups all of which is available at a very affordable price point.
