The year saw premium features, such as display notch, dual/triple rear cameras, powerful processors and more RAM, becoming a standard in all segments, leaving us skeptical about how smartphone makers will do an even better job in the year 2019.

Lenovo Z5 Pro


The Lenovo Z5 Pro is going to be the world's first smartphone to offer 12 GB of RAM, and the Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed its launch in China in January. While its global launch is expected in the same month, it comes with other features like 6.39-inch FHD + AMOLED display, slider design for cameras, in-display fingerprint sensors and more. In addition, Lenovo has confirmed that Lenovo Z5 Pro's 12 GB RAM version will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 710 processor.

Honor View 20


The Honor View 20 will come with a 6.4-inch all-view display and an in-display front camera with 25-megapixel AI (artificial intelligence ) sensor. The expected specifications of the Honor View 20 include Kirin 980 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 3D secondary rear camera, 4-in-1 light fusion technology and a 4000mAh battery with super fast charging support.


Huawei Nova 4


One of the most expected phones from Huawei,  Nova 4 was launched in China in December. The phone comes with an in-screen front camera and 48-megapixel AI rear camera. The specifications also include 6.4-inch display, Huawei Kirin 970 processor, 8GB of RAM, triple rear camera setup, 25-megapixel front camera, 3750mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20

Not much has been said about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy M-Series, however, the company is expected to launch three smartphones in series, i.e. Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 Read the listing, may be powered by the Exynos 7885 chip with the Galaxy M30 4GB RAM. The Galaxy 'M' series comes on the heels of the Galaxy A7 and A9 - Samsung's first triple and quad-rear camera device.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be the company’s take on smartphones with 48-megapixel AI rear cameras as Xiaomi confirmed in December that it will soon be launching a new smartphone with the Sony IMX 586 48-megapixel sensor early next year. While the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is also expected to come with an in-display camera or a punch-hole display, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor backed by up to 6GB of RAM.

Could it be the Redmi 7 Pro or Redmi Pro 2 handset?

In the previous month, a Russian YouTuber had released a video to reveal the alleged Redmi 7 Pro in real. The video did not show the rear side of the phone, but the frontal view revealed that it will be arriving with a waterdrop notch screen. Unfortunately, no details are available on the specifications of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro from 2016 is the first Redmi phone to come with dual rear cameras. It was a better specced phone compared to the other Redmi phones that were released in the same year. Speculations are rife that the Redmi phone that is scheduled to go official on Jan. 10 could be the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone. The rumored handset is expected to succeed the original Redmi Pro phone. Leaked posters that have surfaced in the recent past have suggested that the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone will be fueled by 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset.

Last month, the 3C authority of China had approved three Xiaomi smartphone units with model numbers M1901F7E, M1901F7T and M1901F7C. These could be the different variants of the forthcoming Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera. With a week remaining for the Jan. 10 launch event, Xiaomi is very likely to release more teasers to reveal its other features.
