Xiaomi offers ‘massive discount’ on Mi A2 4GB, 6GB variants: Price, specs, features

Xiaomi India has quietly reduced the price of its second generation Android One smartphone - Xiaomi Mi A2. Mi A2's 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants will now be available on mi.com and Amazon India at a new price as well as offline Mi stores and retail partners on January 7.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage will now retail at its new price of Rs 13,999. The 6GB RAM variant with 128GB storage will cost Rs 15,999. Xiaomi launched its Mi A2 in August in India at a starting price of Rs 16,999. Later in September, the company also brought 6GB RAM variant at a price of Rs 18,999. In addition, Xiaomi also offers the red variant of the smartphone at the same price on the retail channels. In September, the RED variant was also launched.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 price in India now starts at Rs. 13,999 (Suggested Retail Price Rs. 14,499) for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant and goes to Rs. 15,999 (SRP Rs. 16,499) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model. Notably, the latest price cut is of permanent nature and is applicable starting January 7, Monday, Gadgets 360 learnt. Xiaomi says that the new prices will be reflected on At 12 noon IST Mi.com and Amazon India It also says that Mi Home stores and offline retail partners will come with a new price.

To recall, Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 with a price tag of Rs. 16,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, while its 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model arrived at Rs. 19,999. The original prices dropped by Rs. 1,000 last November that ultimately brought the Mi A2 to a starting price of Rs. 15,999, with the 6GB RAM variant priced at Rs. 18,999.

Xiaomi Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Works with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor under Xiaomi Mi A2 Hood.

For photography, Xiaomi Mi A2 sports a dual-rear camera setup of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor with f/1.75 aperture, LED flash. Up front, it houses a 20-megapixel selfie camera with bokeh mode.

Xiaomi Mi A2 battery life

The Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery, 80mAh less than the stated capacity of the Mi A1's cell. It's the same capacity you'd find in the Huawei P20 lite, while the Moto G6 Plus packs a bit more - 3,200mAh. The Nokia 7 plus is much better equipped - it's got a 3,800mAh battery.

Much like its unremarkable battery capacity, the Mi A2's actual endurance isn't anything spectacular.We saw a 9-hour flat in our video playback test, and half an hour more of web browsing on Wi-Fi - not bad, it is speaking rigorously, but there is nowhere near the class-leader. Mi A1 can do 2 hours in video playback and 4 more in web browsing. A2> A1 in voice call, however - 22 full hours vs. 20: 11h for the new model.

Mi A1 came with 2x12MP camera combo with focal length equal to two modules in such a way as to produce 2x zoom - same as the iPhone X and Galaxy S9+. The mode is arranged in the camera to swipe left and right to you.Sadly, swiping up/down doesn't switch between front and rear camera - there's a button for that. There are toggles for flash mode, HDR, a set of filters and a hamburger shortcut to the settings.

Image quality

The Mi A2 captures pleasing images in good light, But we must point out an inequality with Get-Go: photos taken with HDR enabled are faster than people who do not have it. The difference is particularly visible in the dot pattern of the foliage and the blinds. Meanwhile, the promise made by HDR has not done much, only to recover some highlights at the expense of the dark shadow.
